Thermo Fisher Scientific Launches Versatile Media for the HEK 293 Cell Line

Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, has developed two new versatile media for HEK 293 cells, adding to the HyClone product line.

The Thermo Scientific HyClone CDM4HEK293™ is chemically defined and contains no animal-derived components. It supports the growth of HEK 293 cultures and promotes adenovirus and recombinant protein production. Thermo Scientific HyClone SFM4Transfx-293™ is designed to support the growth of HEK 293 cultures and promote transfection using lipofection or similar methods.

HyClone SFM4Transfx-293™ and HyClone CDM4HEK293™ are regulatory-friendly media developed through Metabolic Pathway Design™. Both are available as a liquid formulation, and can be packaged in small-volume bottles or in the HyClone line of large-scale BioProcess Container™ systems. They are also available in dry powdered formulation for on-site hydration in the unique HyClone Single-Use Mixer or in existing media formulation facilities.

The HyClone product line includes serum-free media for the biopharmaceutical and research markets designed for many key cell lines, including: Chinese hamster ovary (CHO), hybridomas and myelomas, HEK 293, PER.C6™ (Crucell NV), insect and viral vaccine (e.g., Vero, MDCK).
