Media Optimization

HyClone’s serum-free media development has been centered on supporting the growth of the major cell platforms used in animal cell based manufacturing.

HyClone offers standard serum-free medium (SFM) formulations suitable for key cell culture platforms including hybridoma, insect, Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO), gene therapy (e.g., HEK 293) and viral vaccine (e.g., Vero). While these standard serum-free media offer superior performance, in many cases unique cell line or process specific criteria require further optimization to achieve the highest level of success.

Combining HyClone’s knowledge of cell culture requirements with state-of-the-art analytical and development equipment, HyClone has the ability to assess and meet the specific needs of its customers cell culture processes.

HyClone’s optimization program thoroughly evaluates the nutrient demands of customers cell culture systems, potential key component toxicities, necessary process specific supplementation, and many other critical cell culture elements. Throughout the optimization program, recommended changes in medium composition are carefully evaluated for manufacturing suitability.
