Gentamycin Sulfate is a broad spectrum cell culture antibiotic that is non toxic to viruses and mammalian cells at antibacterial levels. It is active against gram positive and gram negative bacteria and Mycoplasma, and is useful for long-term virus and tissue culture studies. It is used as an antibacterial or antimycobacterial.

Gentamycin Sulfate interferes with bacterial protein synthesis by binding to L6 protein of 50S ribosomal subunit.

Common working concentration is 50 µg/mL. It is cytotoxic at >300µg/mL.
