Somatic Stem Cells from
Cellular Engineering Technologies
| Hematopoietic Stem Cells from Cellular Engineering Technologies All CET stem cells are characterized and tested with a panel of known stromal, stem, and hematopoietic markers. Each system is analyzed by flow cytometry to ensure >95% purity. All stem cells test negative for HIV-1, HIV-2, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C. All CET stem cells are only grown in media and serum with no additional growth factors used prior to distribution, in order not to compromise the differentiation potential.
Human CD34+ or CD133+ hematopoietic stem cells (HCBHSC) are isolated robotically from fresh umbilical cord blood using a magnetically coupled antibody, which is specific for either the CD34+ or C133+ antigen. This is done robotically to maximize purity and yield while minimizing human handling and chances of contamination. HCBHSC are important in a variety of applications including reconstitution of the immune system, synthesis of endothelium or basement membrane and revascularization of damaged blood vessels. HCBHSC are also being used to study aberrant stem cell function in the progression of immune related cancers. Unlike mesenchymal stem cells, HCBHSC are mainly used in animal models to study the immune system and cardiovascular or circulatory defects. Tissue differentiation applications include conversion into endothelial progenitor cells.
